The Walk-a-thon was a great success! The weather was amazing and the kids had a blast running, walking, socializing, eating, and drinking for a great cause: Sparrow's Nest.  Check out what the organization is doing by clicking (or copy and paste) the link below. (No pictures today, I left my camera at school. I will send post next week with some pics.)

Hello parents,

- A field trip permission form went home today and is due back on Monday. We are going to tour St. Louis Seminary and Fitz's Brewery Friday, September 20th. We are in need of parent drivers for this one. If you can drive on Friday (leave by 9am, and return by 2:30) we could use you! You also need an approved background check.

We said goodbye to Brynna on Monday. She is heading on a family vacation and then off to Bahrain. We wish her many blessings and a goodbye for now.

The 7th graders continued their study of feudalism. All three of these 7th graders said it was the most favorite part of their week

Favorite: "Being a lady during the feudalism skit." Worst: "Brynna leaving."

Favorite: "History. I was a knight." Worst: "Detention." He did say it was okay for me to post that! :)

Favorite: "I liked history. I was a lady." Worst: "Math. Fractions!"

We also are doing a new chapel activity where each teacher has a chapel family. We meet with our chapel family (1 - 8th grade) and sit with them during chapel. We will try to get together several times a year for fellowship and fun, and today we did just that.

I have noticed I see more singing with the junior high students during chapel when they are sitting with the little ones. I also notice how sweet they are and how much they try to help their buddies. Of course, the smaller buddies really seem to look up to the big kids.

I know many of my 7th graders have really stepped up to being role models and at the very least - helpers with getting the little kids to sit still! I have to say - it is very different supervising chapel with little ones instead of only my junior high kids. :)

Kyle reading with his chapel buddies Matthew and Aiden. Kyle is the only 7th grade in my faith family. We did Christmas in September today.

Taylor reading a Christmas story to Hudson and Gabe.

Elliot (my son) and Corey reading a story together.

Another chapel family heading back for our closing prayer.

Allison (my daughter) waiting for closing prayer.

3 beautiful angels hanging out together. We don't always have the chance to get to know each other - faith families help us do that.

Week 4 September 3 - 6

Hello parents,

I hope you had a restful and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. The week has flown by with only four days to accomplish what we need to do.

We will be introducing a science technology project Friday. We will have some time to work on it in class, but expect some outside computer time for your 7th grader.

Some students will be attending The High Ropes course at Camp Wartburg next Saturday hosted by STUCO (Student Council). We hope the students have a wonderful time and we get to see lots of pictures. If your student attends send me some photos and I will post them on the blog.

Student Council held elections for officers. Below are pictures of some students who participated.

Erika's Slogan: "Stay Fierce!"

Julian's Slogan: "It's a homerun!"

In history this week feudalism is back in style. The kids have been assigned roles to play for this lesson.

Zach is enjoying his role of KNIGHT while studying feudalism.

Erin was Queen for a day (Crown jewels a la purple bucket). " I felt royal."

Don't forget to read the Zion banner for all important school information and stay tuned about more information to come about the BOBCAT shuffle!

Church schedule: Worship services are back to regular times. Saturday: 5:00, Sunday 8, 9:30, and 11. Try to make worship a priority in your life and your child will follow suit.

Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Murray
