Week 15 November 18 - 22

Service: Student Council headed up our Thanksgiving food drive. 20 meals were put together for Seminary families.

Thank you families for supporting our students with your willingness to give, and in turn allowing them to serve others as they work and prepare a Thanksgiving meal box for the Seminary families.

Dear Parents,

We have been busy the last two weeks. The kids have had several tests and projects and we continue to work very hard this quarter.

Be sure to look at your child's grades. Mid quarter was Monday, November 18. If you need to get your username and password for Edline, please contact the office.

There are several upcoming projects and dates to be aware of.

  • Student were busy this week, and last, creating timelines of Muhammad's life as well as timelines of their own life.  It was fun to learn more about the these awesome students.

Week 13 November 4 - 7

Hello parents,

The seventh graders have been very busy this week. I think they had a test in almost every major class. I am sure they are looking forward to relaxing a bit this weekend with their family and friends!

A few reminders:

Zion Auction:

The Zion auction is planned for Spring 2014 and the organizers are looking for volunteers to assist them. Please contact the office if you are interested. It takes many dedicated volunteers for this amazing night.

Also, included in students' Friday papers is an envelope for the auction's technology drive. If you are able please consider a monetary donation that will go toward including awesome technology in the Zion auction.

Together We're Better:

Murray's 7th grade class is looking for a win! If you are planning to get some gift cards for Christmas presents or Black Friday shopping -look no further than TWB. Mrs. Cornejo (the TWB coordinator) is awarding the class with the most purchases of TWB next week a special prize. A small percentage of TWB gift card purchases benefit Zion. An easy way to make your life easier and see your money work for Zion.

There are so many choice - gas, groceries, restaurants, shopping - it is such a cool program!

Have a blessed weekend. See you at church.
Mrs. Murray

Week 12 October 28 - Nov 1

Hello parents,

What a fun and exciting week we had at Zion!

Red Ribbon week was a huge success. The kids enjoyed having fun with the dress up days and we had the opportunity to talk about what it means to be drug free.

We also did a flower lab is science this week. We dissected lilies to see all the reproductive parts of the flower. The kids had a great time working together on this lab. See pictures below.

Halloween week is always an interesting one, and I am so glad to see all my 7th graders back safe and full of candy today.

An exciting new Bible study is starting at Zion. Jon Bernhardt, Lutheran High's principal, is conducting a Bible study for teaching and parenting kids of today. Please read his introduction below and consider joining him. The teachers at LEA listened to Tim Elmore as a keynote speaker and he was amazing!
You've heard of the Baby Boomers, the Gen Xr's and Gen Y'rs, but what about today's kids? Today's kids are a "different animal".
Consider these facts about today's kids: they've never rode a bike without a helmet, never road in a car without a seatbelt, have always cooked popcorn in a microwave, and think that Bono and Madonnna are aging singers.
Today's generation of kids are referred to as Generation iY.  Come to Bible study at Zion starting this Sunday and learn how we can best parent and educate this generation of kids.
Based on Author Tim Elmore's book, Jon Bernhardt will lead you through a discussion rich study on Generation iY!

Some things to note for next week:

Muffins for Moms: Wednesday, November 6 starting at 7am. Please come in to the gym with your children and enjoy some treats and juice. You are invited to join us for chapel which starts at 8:05. Families are encouraged to sit together and we ask that parents and students sit with their youngest siblings' class.
