Week 18 December 16 - 20

Hello parents,

Merry Christmas! I wish you a wonderful Christmas with your families.

Second quarter is complete and we are ready to start third quarter with new, exciting material when the kids return. Expect report cards to come home Friday, January 10th.

We viewed a beautiful Advent service from the first and second graders, and enjoyed the 8th graders today. Mrs. Rutledge made flowers in Spanish class and we watched the 1984 George C. Scott "Christmas Carol".

We had a lovely Christmas party prepared by our volunteer room parents. (Thank you so much!) The students and I appreciate the time and effort it takes to get all of the food and activities ready.

Lots of pics to share below.

Merry Christmas,
Mrs. Murray

Steel was delivered to school on Wednesday.  Trusses were already up by Friday afternoon.

Some wacky junior high teachers wore ugly Christmas sweaters on Thursday. I hope you don't have any of those in your closest! If so, they are beautiful!

Week 17 December 9 - 13

Hello parents,

The Case of the Mystery Pork Tenderloin. (This might give you a good laugh.)

A plastic Target bag sat on my shelf for two days or so. I decided to investigate. When I checked it out yesterday afternoon in front of the 7th graders, I pulled out a sealed pork tenderloin from the bag! I said "WHY do I have a pork tenderloin on my shelf!?" The kids thought this was quite funny and we all laughed. Luckily, it was sealed and did not smell.

Interestingly enough, no students admitted to accidentally bringing a piece of raw meat from home for lunch. I figure there is a mom out there who had dinner planned, but thought she lost her mind because she couldn't find her bag of pork. :) Needless to say, I still have no takers on this one and we all laughed about the weirdness of it all.

No need to for me to know any guilty parties for "The Case of the Mystery Pork Tenderloin". I just thought I would share the laugh. I'm sorry the pork didn't make it to my refrigerator and back home again!

Week 16 December 2 - 6

My blog is a bit late for last week, but I wanted to still get it out to all of you.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and you have enjoyed the beautiful Advent services at church the past two weekends.

Even though my blog is getting out a bit late, I tend to NOT procrastinate and I am nearly done with my Christmas shopping. It helps me to relax more as December progresses and really prepare my family and me for the coming of Jesus. Blessings to you as you prepare as well.

Here are some interesting items to note that we have done with the 7th grade the past week:

Duck Dynasty Devotion: This is a video link that has been traveling around the web and facebook for a few weeks now; Mrs. Cluck and I enjoyed our classroom discussions that came from a devotion we led based on this video.  It's so wonderful to see God in the spotlight every now and again, especially in a world that tries to shut Him out.  I would encourage families to use people and times like these to discuss worldly issues.  Take a few minutes to watch this viedo if you haven't seen it already...it's worth it!

"A Christmas Carol": We greatly enjoyed seeing "A Christmas Carol" come alive on stage at Lindenwood University this past Tuesday.  Students are having fun acting out the play in Literature class; they are definitely learning some new vocabulary through the Old English terms and phrases.  Scheidegger Theater at Lindenwood was decorated for Christmas beautifully.

Christmas Wreath Projects: 7th grade Christmas projects were turned in this week -- look at the beautiful creations you children made!  Hopefully these will find their way to decorating a door in your home this season.

Happy Advent!
