December 8 - 12 Week 17

Dear parents,

Mrs. Cluck wrote our blog last week and included pictures of the 7th graders making their wreaths and their literature skits. I hope you had a chance to look at her blog. I did not write one of my own because she included all the information updates for both of us.

We have just a short time together before Christmas break, but so much to accomplish! Students have been working hard. This week they took their memory test for quarter 2, and finished up their AR points. We also had the opportunity to view the 3rd and 4th grade Advent service and participate in a faith family activity. They are working hard, but we can tell it is time for them to have a nice rest.

We have more to look forward to before our Christmas break. See information below:

Christmas concert… is Tuesday, December 16th starting at 7 PM.  Strings, bells, band and choirs will perform at this concert.  What a great way to support the kids in your class by attending the Christmas concert.

Geography Bee... will be held Tuesday the 16th starting at 9 AM.  Bee is held in the gym. 7th graders worked through the qualifying questions in History this week.

Christmas Party: Our Christmas party will be December 19th from 1:30 - 2:30. Once again, room moms are putting in the time. If you are able to offer any help or supplies please let Mrs. Wadley, Mrs. Horton, or Mrs. Paske know what you can do to help. Remember Friday, December 19th is a FULL day of school.

Christmas Eve Services: Celebrate Christ's birth!

December 24th services at Zion will be held: 3:00, 5:00, 11:00 - If you haven't heard our congregation sing Silent Night on Christmas Eve - whew....it's something else. So moving.

Christmas Day service 9:00 AM

I will pray for your families this Christmas season. Blessings as you prepare.

Mrs. Murray

Week 14 November 17 - 21

Hello parents,

The entire junior high staff would like to thank you for your support with Operation Christmas Child. Early this week I was able to deliver 103 boxes to a designated drop off location at First Baptist Church on Muegge Rd. It was awesome to see how many large boxes they already had packed to ship off, and that our shipment alone would fill 5 more large boxes. They were impressed with our service project and fantastic support.

It was a blessing to work with and see other Christian churches in the area unite for a great cause. As we pray for peace and safety in our community and for our neighbors, I choose to focus on what makes us similar. We are brothers and sisters in Christ!

Zion school donated enough at our Thanksgiving food drive to deliver 20 Turkey dinner boxes to the Seminarian families. In addition, they were able to fill the Seminary's food bank shelves with over 2000 food items.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. My family has a tradition during our table blessings every evening before we say amen to go around and say one thing we are thankful for. Try it this weekend with your loved ones...it can be a fascinating window into the hearts of the ones you love!

I am thankful for my family, my friends, my students, my pets, laughing, and a four day weekend!

Blessings to you my Zion family,
Mrs. Murray

Week 13 November 10 - 12

Hello parents, (Food drive flyer is at the end, after all the pictures.)

We had a fast and furious week. It was very busy here with Veteran's Day service and especially our Operation Christmas Child packing. (Pictures for both are below.)

We were able to pack approximately 100 boxes to send to children in need! We used the funds collected from Walk-a-ton to purchase items, and with all the items from our drive we made a fantastic tower of boxes to ship off. We certainly are blessed!  The boxes were packed tight with lots of "wants and needs". Toys, paper, crayons, stuffed animals, soaps, toothbrushes, washclothes etc...

Thank you for your support with this project. - Junior high staff

Chapel:

We continue to support Pastor Sam Thomson and the CRC, Christian Resources Center in India.  So far this year we have collected $1,263 in offerings to support the ministry in India!

Pastor Sam shared with us the mission of CRC is:
GO- to the villages where the children are.
PREACH- Jesus is the true God who wants to love and save them.

TEACH- the Bible through Bible studies, village groups, and 150 special events throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for Pastor Sam and the children of India and the CRC.
